My name is Jessica and I am a native Floridian. I grew up down south in Punta Gorda, graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Legal Studies, and settled down in Tampa when I met my husband. We lived 10 years in a beautiful subdivision, but my dream has always been to go back to my roots, buy up some land, start a garden, bake bread and raise up my babies.
A little over two years ago, an amazing opportunity to buy a little farmhouse on some acres came up, and although my husband wasn’t completely convinced it was a good idea to leave our newly remodeled home in a wonderful neighborhood, he supported my dream and we took the leap.
To say we got in over our heads would be an understatement, but boy have we had the time of our lives trying to make this place ours. These first two years we focused on clearing land, fencing in pasture space, and building animal houses. We managed to take out a wall, pain the entire interior, install all new flooring, rebuild the staircase, remodel one downstairs bathroom, build half of a garage, pave our road and driveway, put in some irrigation, and landscape. We also rebuilt our dock and built a Pinterest worthy fire pit space out back. I even convinced my husband to build me a beautiful garden in time for spring gardening season this year. Our list of things “to do” far exceeds our list of things we’ve completed, but I am in no rush at all.

Our completed hen house, fire pit, and dock.
So if you’re ever looking for me, I’ll be right here. Playing with my goats and chickens, chasing our puppy through the yard, digging in the dirt with my kids, and cooking our food from scratch. Slowing it down, soaking it all in, and rebuilding our house one step at a time.
